Effective fire drills are planned, announced to safety committees (even if not to all staff), timed and debriefed. Supervisors should note slow evacuation lanes, staff who re-enter for belongings and contractors unfamiliar with assembly points.
Rotate scenarios: electrical panel fault, chemical spill near an exit, night-shift reduced staffing. Pair drills with extinguisher training on compatible fire classes using approved props — never live fuel demos in occupied buildings.
PCFSM students practice drill leadership in supervised campus sessions before recommending changes at their workplaces.
